Organ donors help power the World Transplant Games

Celebrating Life. Powering Awareness.

The shortage of organ donors hinders life-saving transplants. The need for a life-saving transplant affects people regardless of their gender, age, religion, or ethnicity. Increasing awareness and consent for organ donation is paramount to save lives.

“One Organ donation can
save the lives of 10 or more
people.”

Australia faces a critical shortage of organ donors

Despite the life-saving potential, low donor registrations remain a barrier.

The World Transplant Games presented a unique opportunity to:

  • Raise awareness of the need for organ and tissue donation.
  • Inspire families to have vital conversations about donation.
  • Celebrate the life-changing gift donors provide.
  • Thank the families, health professionals, researchers, and carers who make it possible.

Studio Loka crafted an integrated
awareness campaign that brought the Games — and its lifeaffirming message — to the heart of Perth and beyond.

Key actions:

  • City-wide visibility: Banners, street signage, and billboards throughout Perth CBD, suburbs, major sports stadiums, and Perth Airport.
  • Targeted touchpoints: Newspaper ads, medical centre posters, shopping centre displays, and digital content.
  • Emotive storytelling: Black-and-white imagery of Transplant Australia donor ambassadors and athletes in action, creating emotional resonance.
  • Engagement tools: A comprehensive Event Guide (print, online, app) connecting athletes, sponsors, volunteers, and the public with donor stories and event highlights.

The number of national donor registrations have grown exponentially since the event.

  • Exponential growth in donor registrations.
  • Increased public awareness and positive media coverage.
  • Strengthened community connection around the life-giving impact of organ donation.

This project showcased how strategic, emotionally-led design can bridge community awareness with tangible action. By celebrating personal stories and making the message visible in everyday spaces, we helped transform public perception and drive life-saving registrations.
